Facts:

42 year old Claimant sustained injury during the course of his work as a Casting Operative in a steelworks (steelware manufacturing).

The Claimant sustained permanent serious injury to his right hand when it was caught in the machine on which he was working. The third and ring fingers of his injured hand had to be amputated and the index finger was severely and irreparably damaged. 

His capacity for work and standing on the labour market were permanently impaired.

The claim was settled following court proceedings.

Settlement:

The claim settled for a value of £320,000 gross plus costs.
