Corporate legal work by Wake Smith Solicitors for Sheffield’s Castings Technology has been shortlisted in the Insider UK Dealmakers Awards 2026.
The transaction, which saw Castings Technology secure a new £15m investment package from Zachary Asset Holdings, won Deal of The Year (£5m to £25m) category at the Yorkshire Business Insider’s Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2025 back in November.
The win meant the transaction was shortlisted for the Insider UK Dealmakers Awards 2026 in the Deal of The Year (Medium) category on February 26 at the ICC in Birmingham.
It will go up against nine other shortlisted deals from across the South East, South West, Midlands, North East, South Coast, Wales, North West, Central and East of England and Scotland to be crowned the Champion of Champions in the category.
Wake Smith Solicitors’ Rebecca Robinson, Director and Head of Corporate, provided legal advice including negotiating the investment documentation, facilities agreement and security documentation. Wake Smith’s co-managing director Paul Gibbon provided commercial property advice.
Wake Smith worked with Sheffield’s Castle Square Corporate Finance on the transaction which advised the shareholders on the structured fundraising process, funding negotiations and project managed the transaction process, and with BHP which advised on tax matters.
The new investment facility of £15million from Zachary Asset Holdings, will see Castings Technology, which produces specialised investment castings from a range of alloys for some of the most demanding advanced global manufacturing companies, invest in new premises, equipment, and new jobs, to further its aim of becoming one of the largest Titanium foundries in the world.
