Paul attended Hope Valley College and Lady Manners School before studying law at Anglia Ruskin and Sheffield Universities.

Main Areas of Work:

Paul works with both businesses and private individuals on the disposal and acquisition of all types of commercial property whether for investment purposes or for owner occupation. He handles transactions across a number of sectors but with particular expertise in office, industrial, logistics and healthcare.

He also acts for a number of commercial property landlords, helping with portfolio management including granting leases and dealing with renewals, tenant’s alterations, assignments and sub-lettings.

Commercial occupiers instruct Paul when taking on new, or existing leases, of a wide variety of commercial properties – including acting for occupiers taking retail, hospitality, office, leisure, industrial and warehouse space.

He also acts on complex and high value development land deals for both developers and landowners.

Paul also continues to strengthen his links with financial institutions and advise both business and banks on acquisitions and re-financings involving secured lending.

Great / Notable achievements at Wake Smith:

  • Acted on the purchase of a single let office building at circa £2.1m for a client with an international portfolio through a special purpose investment vehicle.
  •  Acted for a manufacturer on its relocation to a brand new, purpose built warehouse and office facility. The deal involved landlord’s development works, tenant’s fit out and a lease at a significant rent.
  • Advised a client on the disposal of a substantial production facility and offices, let to a single occupier, to an investor.
  • Advised a health and fitness group on the regional expansion of its gym business to two new premises.
  • Advised on the acquisition of a part vacant, part multi-let industrial premises for a client in the manufacturing sector.
  • Represented a specialist care provider on a multi-million pound re-financing of its dedicated rehabilitation facility.

Paul is also Wake Smith’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP).
