Is a family member or friend unable to make decisions for themselves? Then, you will need to consider the following information:
Court of Protection
The Court of Protection makes decisions and appoints deputies to act on behalf of people who are unable to make decisions about their personal health, finance or welfare.
Deputyship
If a family member or friend is unable to make decisions for them and they have not already made an Enduring Power of Attorney or Lasting Power of Attorney and you wish to apply to be appointed as a Deputy, please contact us to discuss this further.
Registration of an Enduring Power of Attorney
If you have been appointed as an attorney under an Enduring Power of Attorney and you believe the Donor (the person giving the power) has become or is becoming mentally incapable of managing their own affairs you will have to apply to the Court of Protection for registration of the power, we will be happy to assist you with the registration process.

"Suzanne Porter and Rachel Baseley have advised many of our employees on such delicate matters either at Wake Smith’s offices, Swann-Morton’s premises or in individuals’ homes, and have always been compassionate, understanding and patient in gaining an understanding of their requirements and wishes whilst delivering a solution in a professional manner. Their reaction has been very timely when required, which has helped to reassure the individuals and their families. We look forward to a continuing long-term and professional relationship not only with the Wills and Probate team but with Wake Smith as a whole."

"Breda Cashell did a first class job in handling our late mothers estate, keeping us well informed throughout this sad time of ours. Nothing was too much trouble, she was very professional from the outset to completion. She answered all our questions at our first meeting, and subsequent meetings. Breda is a very caring lady, and our family would recommend her and your services as an excellent company to work with. Thanks for a brilliant service."
Brian Middleton
"We have been clients of Wake Smith over a period of some twenty-five years and the service we have received throughout this time has been excellent. The firm has always been prompt, efficient and thorough and we have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and kindness."

"On our first appointment with Mr Shaun Talbot, he immediately put us at ease and explained everything clearly to us. The service we received was brilliant from start to finish, documents were quickly forwarded to us to check and we were promptly invited back into the office to add our signatures. We would definitely recommend Mr Talbot in the future and thank him for making this process stress free and easy to complete."

"I have been dealing with Wake Smith Solicitors for many years now and my main contact with the company is Mr. Shaun Talbot. Shaun has been quite an inspiration to me, he has always been so kind to me, yet very professional with his advice in helping me through the most difficult times. His knowledge is outstanding. He has always treated me with the utmost respect and I always feel very comfortable when visiting the Offices in so much as I feel I can discuss anything with him. For this I thank him most sincerely. I would also like to thank Reception and Shaun's secretary who again have always been very courteous and helpful when I have had to telephone or call at the office. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Wake Smith Solicitors to anyone."

"I was extremely happy with the service provided by Sam Bellagha. He is very professional but also easy to talk to and gave me clear and concise information. I had immediate responses to any subsequent questions and during my final meeting I found him to be very patient in going through all the paperwork and ensuring that everything met my requirements."
