Kevin Bostock
Paralegal
Lives: Meersbrook, Sheffield.
Education: Ashleigh Comprehensive, sadly now turned into a housing estate.
Work History: I think it’s fair to say I came into a job in the law by accident. A colleague had joined Wake Smith to run a large caseload and very kindly suggested I might like to come along and assist him. That was almost 14 years ago, the rest as they say…...
What was your first job? Shelf stacker at a now defunct local Supermarket in the city centre.
What did you think you would be when you grew up? Sports Journalist – I thought it would be my ticket to attending every major sporting event in the world.
Where is the best place to go for office gossip? I am often nearer last than first to pick any up but I would say the kitchen.
What is the best thing about your job? Winning cases and helping people get what they deserve.
What is the worst thing about your job? Having to turn cases down for people as we don’t believe their case has enough merit despite the fact they have been badly injured.
What and where is your favourite restaurant? Not strictly a restaurant but I have never had a bad meal at The Broadfield on Abbeydale Road.
What book are you reading? I am currently working my way through the back catalogue of Clive Cussler. Give me a treasure hunting, historical artefact finding, mystery thriller any day.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which two luxury items would you take? My shaver as I seem to have a 5 o’clock shadow at any time of the day and a boat of course.
If a film was being made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?
I grew up in the era of Star Wars and Indiana Jones and so, unquestionably, it would have to be Harrison Ford.
Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with? Everyone seems to have it in for Piers Morgan and I can’t disagree with that. Also, Simon Cowell and the comedian Sarah Millican, there is just something about her...
Which 3 celebrities would you invite to your perfect dinner party (alive or dead)?
I am a lifelong Nottingham Forest fan and so without doubt Brian Clough would be number 1. Secondly, David Mitchell, who I absolutely love in Peep Show, and last but not least, Micky Flanagan. You’ve got to keep it light…
What do you enjoy in your spare time? On Monday evenings you can often find me on a football pitch trying to do a respectable (ish) job of keeping pace with lads half my age. In fact, I love most sports but also love spending time with friends, family and socialising, not necessarily in that order.
Who is your hero and why? I have never told him but I would have to say my Dad. He had meningitis from being very young which caused him to lose the majority of his hearing. It was a lot more difficult to deal with back then, particularly from such an early age and I reckon he has done a pretty good job of it.
