Wake Smith Solicitors has helped Sheffield-founded tech business Siguru Ltd secure further funding to continue developing its AI system for medical, legal and regulatory affairs review within the pharmaceutical sector, validate market demand, and prepare for future growth.

Tom Haywood and Aaron Patel in Wake Smith's company and commercial team acted for Siguru, founded by entrepreneurs Dan Bentley and Harry Bliss in May 2025.

This was the second external fundraising round for the company, after Sheffield-based Wake Smith handled the legals for its first fundraise.

The duo are raising funds via carefully selected angel investors, friends, family and industry contacts to develop the business.

Tom Haywood said: “These two rounds of funding confirm a healthy appetite for investment into the right companies at all levels and supports the North’s burgeoning AI market.

“People invest in companies, but, just as importantly, founders and this investment is an endorsement of their work in the creation of market-leading, innovative products.

“The investors bring together variety of interests and skills – from tech, business, medicine and pharma to work on a really exciting product and we look forward to seeing how it develops”

Harry Bliss said: “We are an ambitious, high tech company at the forefront of AI technology-based systems.

“Our products can be used by marketing and commercial teams, medical affairs and governance, digital teams, and leadership – anywhere approval speed and compliance both matter. The thriving online market offers high opportunities for growth.

“Our AI platform supports pharma marketing and medical teams through the MLR process - aiming to reduce approval timelines from 40 days to a week.

“Further development of the products and business through the funding will move us towards a commercial launch with the hiring of employees and improvements on a minimum viable product.

“Siguru will expand through developing partnerships and go-to-market, working closely with medical and compliance leaders to build for real-world pharma workflows.

“We look forward to our journey with Wake Smith Solicitors advising us along the way.”

Having built a strong team of medical and commercial experts with over 250 years of MLR experience, alongside AI specialists, Siguru is scaling across UK and global pharma companies to unlock their marketing potential.

Seed fundraising is the process by which early-stage startups raise initial capital. It is the first official round of institutional investment for a startup and typically used to turn an idea into a working product or minimum viable product, validate the business concept, and prepare the company for subsequent funding rounds.

Seed investors take on high risk because early-stage startups often lack proven products, market fit, or revenue, but the potential returns can be substantial if the startup succeeds.
