From October this year, employers will be under a legal duty to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
This represents a shift from the current standard of “reasonable steps” and is expected to raise the bar significantly.
Solicitor in Employment Law Charlotte Wallage, and Director Liam Kenealy explains how Wake Smith Solicitors can support clients in meeting these enhanced obligations and reducing legal risk.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has already identified eight reasonable steps employers should take to prevent sexual harassment.
From October, these will likely form the minimum baseline, possibly with a requirement for employers to go further than this, but guidance is yet to be released.
It is also expected that further guidance won’t be issued until after the additional duty comes into effect.
To support clients in meeting these enhanced obligations and reducing legal risk, Wake Smith is offering a comprehensive “All Reasonable Steps” Pack designed to help employers demonstrate proactive compliance.
The pack includes:
Sexual Harassment Policy
A tailored, up-to-date policy aligned with best practice.
In-Person Manager Training
Practical training for managers (groups of up to 12–15) on identifying, handling, and escalating complaints of sexual harassment, tailored to your workplace.
Pre-recorded Staff Webinar
Accessible training for all employees on expected behaviour and reporting channels.
Risk Assessment & Staff Questionnaire
A structured approach to identifying workplace risks and capturing employee insight to identify gaps within your organisation.
Each element can be purchased individually or take advantage of an offer on the full package to make a saving.
Liam added: “This pack is designed not only to assist employers in meeting the upcoming legal requirements, but also to help promote a healthy workplace culture, free from sexual harassment.”
